Proclamation recognizing the 2016 Real Men Wear Pink of Pittsburgh, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event and commending the efforts of the American Cancer Society.

 

Body...

 

WHEREAS, breast cancer is the most common diagnosis in women in the United States and it is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women; and

 

WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society is determined to save lives from breast cancer by promoting early detection and prevention, funding groundbreaking research, and providing comprehensive support; and

 

WHEREAS, Real Men Wear Pink is a distinguished group of community leaders raising awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Greater Pittsburgh 5K walk on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Highmark Stadium at Station Square. The Pittsburgh campaign members include:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize the 2016 Real Men Wear Pink of Pittsburgh candidates for helping to create a world free from the pain and suffering of breast cancer. We commend the efforts of the American Cancer Society, and we urge all residents, schools, businesses, and civic leaders to continue our community’s strong commitment to preventing, treating, and ultimately curing breast cancer.
