Proclamation recognizing the Keystone Young Marines program and congratulating the unit upon the occasion of its 20th anniversary.
Body...
WHEREAS, the Keystone Young Marines, a local unit of the United States Young Marines, is a coeducational service program that focuses on promoting the mental, physical and moral development of its members; and
WHEREAS, the Keystone Young Marines strengthens the lives of our youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, honoring our veterans, good citizenship, community service, and living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, this Council recognizes the following staff members of the Keystone Young Marines for their outstanding commitment to the youth of our region: Paul Kirsch, Unit Commander; John Donley, Executive Officer; Shawn Kane, Training Officer; and Bettina Radcliff, Adjutant/Paymaster; and
WHEREAS, on October 17th, Young Marines throughout our nation will pause to reflect and celebrate the date the Young Marines were officially chartered and recognized as the Young Marines of the Marine Corps League; and
WHEREAS, on October 13th, the Keystone Young Marines will celebrate the Young Marines birthday and their own 20 years of community service;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and commend the Keystone Young Marines for developing character in the young men and women of our region, and we thank the Keystone Young Marines for its 20 years of drug-demand reduction efforts, honoring our veterans and dedicated community service.
