Proclamation congratulating Dr. David L. Finegold upon his appointment as the 19th President of Chatham University.

WHEREAS, Dr. David L. Finegold has been selected by the Board of Trustees to serve as the 19th president of Chatham University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Finegold has nearly 30 years of experience in higher education as a researcher, author, professor, academic dean, senior vice president and chief academic officer. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard in 1985, and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, where he received his DPhil in Politics in 1992; and
WHEREAS, in 2011, Dr. Finegold was promoted to Senior Vice-President for Lifelong Learning and Strategic Growth at Rutgers University. In this role, he led a range of key initiatives, including overseeing international programs and the Division of Continuing Studies, expanding Rutgers’ partnerships with New Jersey community colleges, and growing Rutgers’ online; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Finegold was appointed to the presidency of Chatham University based on his extraordinary academic background, creative leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit focused on transforming organizations and higher education for the better;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Dr. David L. Finegold upon the occasion of his installation as the 19th president of Chatham University, and we are grateful that under his leadership, Chatham University is poised for growth and innovation.
