Proclamation congratulating the Carnegie Primitive Methodist Church upon the occasion of its 125th anniversary.

WHEREAS, the Carnegie Primitive Methodist Church, located in Carnegie, Pennsylvania will celebrate its 125th anniversary on October 15, 2016 at Rockefeller’s Grille in Kennedy Township; and

 

WHEREAS, Primitive Methodism began in England, in the early 1800’s, as an attempt to restore the Methodist Revival begun under the ministry of John Wesley; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1829, a group of missionaries arrived in America to minister to English and Welsh Immigrants living in the industrial and mining areas.  Their ministries thrived and their Churches grew and on September 16, 1840, the “American Primitive Methodist Church” was established; and

                     

WHEREAS, the mission of the Primitive Methodist Church is “Out of obedience to God’s Great Commission, to produce disciple making churches that will lead our world to Christ”; and

 

WHEREAS, founded in 1891, the Carnegie Primitive Methodist Church has grown under the leadership of Pastor Dan Pastorius and its mission has been furthered by its committed and dedicated members;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and congratulate the Carnegie Primitive Methodist Church upon the momentous occasion of its 125th Anniversary.
