Proclamation congratulating Prime Stage Theatre on its 20 years of service to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the New Hazlett Theatre Center for Performing Arts on Pittsburgh’s North Side, Prime Stage Theatre will be celebrating 20 years of “bringing literature to life on stage” with a performance of their season opener, To Kill A Mockingbird, based on the novel by Harper Lee; and

 

WHEREAS, Prime Stage Theatre has been one of the region’s leading theatre companies to address literacy for adolescents, educators and families since its founding in 1996 by Dr. Wayne Brinda and his wife, Connie; and

 

WHEREAS, Prime Stage Theatre’s distinctive Literacy in ACTion Program, Resource Guides, Teacher Workshops, and Mentor Program make theater accessible to middle school and high school educators, students, and their families. Through theatre, students connect literature to their lives and to the larger community in which they live; and

 

WHEREAS, for 20 years, Prime Stage Theatre has entertained, inspired and enriched countless individuals through theatrical productions and educational programs, and encouraged young audiences to become life-long patrons of the arts;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby commend and congratulate Prime Stage Theatre on its 20 years of service to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, and we look forward to all that Prime Stage Theatre will accomplish in the years to come.
