Proclamation declaring Saturday October 30, 2016 to be “North Hills Monster Dash 5K and Spooky Stroll Day” in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, October 30, 2016, the North Hills High School Hands for Service Club in conjunction with Student Council will host the First Annual North Hills Monster Dash 5K and Spooky Stroll at North Park to benefit the Make-A-Wish® Foundation; and
WHEREAS, since 1994, the North Hills High School Hands for Service Club has raised about $100,000 for Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, an organization which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy; and
WHEREAS, in January 2016, the North Hills High School Hands for Service Club and Student Council raised $7,025 by hosting a dance marathon and donated the funds to Make-A-Wish in memory of North Hills 2015 graduate Danielle Kappeler. The funds facilitated two local wishes, a 3-year-old boy who wished to go to the Walt Disney World Resort and a 12-year-old girl who wished to go to Key West, Florida;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby commend the North Hills High School Hands for Service Club and Student Council for its outstanding community service and philanthropy, and we hereby declare Saturday October 30, 2016 to be “North Hills Monster Dash 5K and Spooky Stroll Day” in Allegheny County.
