Proclamation recognizing the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance for hosting the 2016 Fan Fest-Toy Drive benefitting the Allegheny County Holiday Project.

WHEREAS, founded in February of 2000, the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA) is a local, independent wrestling promotion group that is based in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh; and

 

WHEREAS, KSWA prides itself on providing affordable, family-friendly events to fans of all ages. Legendary wrestlers with ties to Studio Wrestling have competed in the KSWA, including Dominic DeNucci, George “The Animal” Steele, Hillbilly Jim and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, just to name a few; and

 

WHEREAS, KSWA members and fans participate in many fundraising events for local individuals, volunteer fire departments, youth sports organizations, schools, the United Way, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank; and

 

WHEREAS, from its first toy drive held on December 3, 2005, KSWA Fan Fest has been a way for Pittsburgh’s longest-running professional wrestling organization to honor fans and raise toys for needy youth in the region. Toy donations go directly to Allegheny County’s “Holiday Project.” The 2016 Fan Fest-Toy Drive will feature Demolition Ax & Smash with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter at the Teamsters Temple in Lawrenceville on Saturday, December 3, 2016; 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council recognizes the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance for hosting the 2016 Fan Fest-Toy Drive and we thank the organization’s members and fans for their contributions to Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
