WHEREAS, in 1946, the late Mr. John Podmilsak, Sr. opened Podmilsak’s Market along Herron Avenue in Harmar Township as a way to support his family without working in the coal mines; and
WHEREAS, Mr. John Podmilsak, Jr. joined his father and took over the family business in 1968; and
WHEREAS, Podmilsak’s Market’s specialty is fresh meats, cut to order, where customers are known by their first name; and
WHEREAS, Podmilsak’s Market has survived amid the big box stores by offering outstanding service, quality products and reasonable prices;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Podmilsak’s Market upon the occasion of its 70th Anniversary, and we wish future success to this treasured small business serving our community.
