This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Mr. Michael N. Tobias upon the momentous occasion of his 100th birthday. Mr. Tobias was born on November 21, 1916. Mr. Tobias is a World War II veteran, having honorably served in the 19th Fighter Squadron, 318th Fighter Group, a United States Army Air Forces combat organization that served primarily in the Pacific Ocean Theater. As a member of the 318th Fighter Group, Mr. Tobias was part of the air offensive in Japan, the invasion of the Eastern Mandates, better known as the Marshall Islands, the Battle of Luzon in which the Allies liberated the Luzon island group in the Philippines, and the Battle of Okinawa in the Ryukyu Islands in Japan. The 318th Group was officially credited with 164 air combat victories. Mr. Tobias received the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, 6 Bronze Service Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Tobias is the proud father of two sons. We honor Mr. Michael N. Tobias for his service to our country, and for his longevity, which can be attributed to his positive outlook on life. We wish him and his family all the best as he celebrates his 100th birthday.
