Allegheny County Council is proud to present these Certificates of Recognition to Sergeant William Wetmore, Sergeant Douglas Carnahan, Detective Richard Moore, Detective Robert Opferman, Detective Scott Towne, P.O. David Hustler, P.O. Joseph Westcott, P.O. Keith Shephard, P.O. William Kelly, P.O. John Gay, P.O. David Corll, and P.O. Jeffrey Mohr upon the occasion of their retirement from the Allegheny County Police Department. Your accomplishments are many and varied and have established Allegheny County’s Police Department as a model on a national scale. You have diligently guarded the safety of our County’s residents over the course of an exemplary career, and this endeavor has earned both the esteem and the respect of the citizens of Allegheny County. Your dedication to serving our community, even at great risk to yourself, has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us and, for that, we commend you.

Allegheny County Council is proud to present this Certificate of Recognition to Patrol Officer Robert Poloka upon the occasion of being named the 2016 Patrol Officer of the Year from the Allegheny County Police Department. On November 10, 2016, the Allegheny County Police Bomb Squad responded to Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, to assist Washington County SWAT Team with a possible barricaded suspect with a hostage. This was also the scene of the fatal shooting of two Canonsburg Police Officers who were ambushed while responding to a domestic dispute. The Bomb Squad received a report of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) in front of the suspect’s home. ACPD Officer and Bomb Technician Robert Poloka donned protective equipment and used the SWAT Team’s armor as cover, approached the vehicle and rendered the VBIED safe.
