This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Mr. and Mrs. Jay and Joy Smith of Bethel Park upon the monumental occasion of their 70th wedding anniversary. They met when they were 14 years old. Jay joined the U.S. Navy at 17 and served in World War II. Upon returning after the war, the couple married at the age of 20. They have celebrated 75 Christmas’ together. On March 30, 1947, they married at the home of Joy’s parents on Keystone Drive in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. They have 3 children, Larry Jay Smith, Salli Betler, Brian Wade Smith, and 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. They are a beautiful, fun-loving, caring couple, both active in their community. For years, Joy and Jay sang in a band that performed at nursing homes and senior centers. Presently, they jam at the California Senior Center. We are pleased to recognize this couple’s devotion and dedication to God, family and each other. Jay and Joy Smith are a shining example of how the power of love can positively influence family, friends and neighbors. We congratulate Jay and Joy on this great milestone and wish them happiness for many years to come.
