Proclamation commending the Pittsburgh Service Summit honorees and naming March 28, 2017 as “Get Involved! Service Summit Day” in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Get Involved! Inc. was founded in 2011 by The Honorable Tom Baker to provide programs that develop, educate, and engage students and young professionals in order to encourage them to become active assets to their communities; and
WHEREAS, on March 28, 2017, the 8th Annual Pittsburgh Service Summit will take place at Carlow University and will give recognition to outstanding activists and individuals for their positive contributions to the community. The event, which is open to the public, will also feature a variety of local vendors who will be available to educate attendees about ways they can become more civically involved. This year’s honorees include the following meritorious individuals:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby commend Get Involved! for their commitment to fostering the development of young leaders into civically active community assets, and for hosting the 8th Annual Pittsburgh Service Summit to honor the achievements of 32 individuals from the region whose work has made a difference in their communities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council does hereby declare March 28, 2017 to be “Get Involved! Service Summit Day” in Allegheny County.
