Proclamation congratulating Mr. Frank Holtz upon the occasion of his induction into the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance Hall of Fame on March 25, 2017.

WHEREAS, Frank L. Holtz, known to wrestling fans as “The Fighting Cop of Carnegie,” will be inducted into the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA) Hall of Fame Class of 2017 on Saturday, March 25, 2017 during the 10th annual Joe Abby Memorial Tournament at Spirit Hall in Lawrenceville; and
WHEREAS, Frank L. Holtz was born and raised in Pittsburgh’s North Side and moved to Carnegie in his 20s. He worked as a laborer for the H.J. Heinz Co., in construction and as a painter while raising five children with his wife, Shirley; and
WHEREAS, Frank L. Holtz became a Carnegie Borough patrolman in 1965, moved up the ranks to sergeant and served as police chief from 1988 through 1990 when he retired after 25 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Frank L. Holtz made his Studio Wrestling debut in 1962, competed through the production’s end and even worked a few house shows until retiring in 1978; and
WHEREAS, Frank L. Holtz was an intimidating figure standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing in at 270 pounds with a finishing setup of a body slam followed by a thunderous elbow drop. During his career of competition in 286 matches, Frank L. Holtz battled “Terrible Tony” Altimore the most, followed by “Baron” Mikel Scicluna and Frank “Slip Mahoney” Durso. Other notable wrestlers he battled include “Jumpin’ Johnny” DeFazio, Dominic DeNucci, “Hangman Jim” Grabmire, Bobby “Hurricane” Hunt, Chuck “The Masked Marvel” Martoni, Bill Miller, Victor Rivera, Ron Romano, and George “The Animal” Steele, just to name a few;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Mr. Frank L. Holtz aka “The Fighting Cop of Carnegie” upon the occasion of his induction into the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance Hall of Fame Class of 2017. We join his devoted family, friends an...
