Proclamation congratulating Ms. Rachelle Dene Poth of Riverview Jr./Sr. High School for earning the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology.

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology (PAECT) seeks to connect, develop, lead and advocate for educational technology in Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rachelle Dene Poth earned the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology during the PAECT Awards Banquet in Hershey, Pennsylvania on February 13, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the award recognizes a teacher who demonstrates outstanding achievement and leadership in implementing technology, and who goes above and beyond to improve education; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Poth began her career at Riverview School District in January 1997 and has taught Spanish, French and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) courses; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Poth was recognized for her use of iPads, 3D design, virtual reality, gaming programs and other technologies in her classes to offer project-based learning;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Ms. Rachelle Dene Poth for earning the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology, and we thank her for her serious commitment to student success.
