Proclamation congratulating family-owned Calabria’s Restaurant on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.

WHEREAS, despite perpetual road construction along Route 88 resulting in many businesses closing, Calabria’s restaurant in Castle Shannon will celebrate 25 years of service in the South Hills this year; and
WHEREAS, on March 24, 1992, co-owner David Calabria opened his first restaurant on Grove Road in Castle Shannon along with his wife’s late father, Russell Ebert, former Pittsburgh Golf Club executive chef and family friend Mario Ionni, a retired chef from the Lemont Restaurant; and
WHEREAS, in 1997, Calabria’s moved to its current location along Route 88 and renovations included installing a bar made from walnut, a patio with fireplace and a private dining room; and
WHEREAS, three generations of Calabria’s have staffed the business, including Michael, Jamie, Anthony, and David, Jr. For 20 years, Michael and his wife, Jackie, have managed the kitchen operations. David, Sr.’s wife, Dee, and her sister, Patty, work as hostesses, and her brother, Artie, assists in the kitchen;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Calabria’s on the momentous occasion of its 25th anniversary, and we join in celebration of reaching this milestone.
