Proclamation congratulating RyKai Wright, a Community College of Allegheny County student, for being selected as one of only six Achieving the Dream 2017 DREAM Scholars nationwide.

WHEREAS, RyKai Wright, a student at Community College of Allegheny County (“CCAC”), has been selected as one of only six Achieving the Dream 2017 DREAM Scholars nationwide and, as such, will have the opportunity to attend the annual DREAM conference where she will engage with other community college leaders to bring about powerful change for student success; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wright has excelled in her studies and will graduate this spring with an Associate of Science in Engineering Technology-Mechanical and earn an additional associate degree in Mathematics & Sciences this summer with plans to transfer to a four-year university in the fall to earn her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wright has demonstrated leadership as a member and an officer of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Alpha Iota Eta chapter, as an ambassador for the CCAC Honors Program and the CCAC Student Ambassador Program, and as a tutor for high school students; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wright has provided outstanding community service through her work for the Best of the Batch Foundation, where, as program intern, she works as the foundation’s volunteer coordinator and performs many other duties that promote the great work of the foundation to benefit thousands of underserved children in Southwestern Pennsylvania;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council enthusiastically recognizes RyKai Wright’s achievements as an outstanding student leader at the Community College of Allegheny County, as well as in her community, and wishes her much success in all of her future endeavors.
