Proclamation commending the Allegheny County Department of Public Works for achieving their second re-accreditation by the American Public Works Association.

 

Body...

 

WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works is responsible for the administration of all contracts involving the construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair and improvement of county roads and bridges; and

 

WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works maintains and improves more than 340 miles of roads and over 550 bridges and culverts; and

 

WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works ensures the safety and reliability of the county’s vehicle fleet; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works has made a commitment to continuous improvement in the delivery of public works operations and services in the communities served; and

 

WHEREAS, accreditation through the American Public Works Association recognizes that an agency’s policies, procedures, and practices have been evaluated against nationally recognized, recommended practices; and

 

WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works first received accredited status in November 2007, was awarded their first Re-Accreditation in 2012, and their second Re-Accreditation on December 29, 2016;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by Allegheny County Council that the employees of the Allegheny County Department of Public Works are to be recognized for demonstrating their commitment to excellence by achieving their second Re-Accreditation through the American Public Works Association.
