Proclamation recognizing the Duttine-Cavataio Fund and its annual Drop the Puck on Cancer event benefitting Brentwood families fighting cancer.

Body...

WHEREAS, in 2012, a group of friends with Brentwood, Pennsylvania ties, created the Duttine-Cavataio Fund in response to the untimely death of two, young Brentwood High School alumni, Julie Andrulonis Duttine, a 1983 Brentwood High School graduate, and Tom Cavataio, a 1984 Brentwood High School graduate; and

WHEREAS, the Duttine-Cavataio Fund held its first Drop the Puck on Cancer dek hockey tournament six years ago in Brentwood Park to raise money for the families devastated by the loss of their loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Drop the Puck on Cancer features a full day of dek hockey tournaments, a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction, bake sale, food and drinks, a magician, face painter and balloon maker; and

WHEREAS, since its inception, the Drop the Puck on Cancer tournament has raised over $185,000 to assist families from Brentwood that have had cancer or lost a loved one to cancer; 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and thank the Duttine-Cavataio Fund for its dedication and commitment to serving Brentwood families in need through its annual Drop the Puck on Cancer tournament.
