WHEREAS, in the United States, heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds; and
WHEREAS, Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement that inspires women to make lifestyle changes, mobilize communities and shape policies to save lives; and
WHEREAS, Go Red For Women has impacted the lives of thousands of women and families in the Pittsburgh area by supporting cardiovascular research, professional and community education and advocacy efforts; and
WHEREAS, themed around sisterhood and inspiration, the 2017 Pittsburgh Go Red For Women Luncheon and Fashion Show will take place on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh to raise funds for heart disease and stroke research;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize the 2017 Pittsburgh Go Red For Women Luncheon and Fashion Show, and we thank the Go Red For Women movement for its continued efforts to fight this epidemic and build a brighter future for the women and families of Allegheny County.
