Proclamation congratulating Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry upon the occasion of its 50th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the North Hills Community Baptist Church, community members will join pastors and musicians from various churches/denominations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry; and
WHEREAS, in 1966, North Hills Area churches created Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry (formerly the North Hills Youth Ministry Counseling Center) as a non-denominational outreach ministry to teens. Moving from this emphasis on teens, in 1982 the ministry began working with parents, the primary influence determining the health and well-being of the family; and
WHEREAS, Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry has grown to encompass the needs of individuals of all ages and offers a holistic approach that includes the integration of emotional, relational, and spiritual healing; and
WHEREAS, Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry provides affordable individual and family professional counseling, parenting education classes and prevention outreach services, therapeutic support groups, and a youth development program offering tutoring and one-to-one mentoring;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry upon the occasion of its 50th Anniversary, and we thank the agency for its 50 years of dedicated service to the community, offering help, hope and healing to children, youth and families.
