Proclamation declaring Friday, May 5, 2017 as Rollin’ with Rotary Day in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges; and
WHEREAS, Rollin’ with Rotary is a group of energized young professionals that bring attention to local and international needs by doing massive Random Acts of Kindness; highlighting Rotary clubs and Rotary youth club activities; and creating large scale community service projects; and
WHEREAS, cities along the 2017 Rollin’ with Rotary tour route will include Cedar Falls, IA; LaCrosse, WI; Madison, WI; Portage, WI; Lakeville, MN; Iowa City, IA; Cedar Rapids, IA; Rockford, IL; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Bowling Green, OH; Ambridge, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Rochester, NY; and Albany NY; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, May 5, 2017, the Rollin’ with Rotary, People of Action tour, in collaboration with local Rotary Clubs and the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health will host an informational session to discuss the Rotary’s efforts in the eradication of polio;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize the Rollin’ with Rotary tour for engaging citizens in community service, and we hereby declare Friday, May 5, 2017 as Rollin’ with Rotary Day in Allegheny County.
