This Certificate of Achievement is awarded to Lance Catlos, an eighth-grader at Pleasant Hills Middle School, for placing second in the Pennsylvania Geographic Bee in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in March 2017. More than 100 middle school students tested their geography knowledge for a chance to compete in the national bee. To prepare for the challenging questions, Lance practiced daily questions posted on the National Geographic Bee website by the National Geographic Society, and in his spare time, he studied his atlas and watched the nightly news. Lance’s dedication and love of geography demonstrate a high standard of commitment and fervor that the youth of our great county may follow. He serves as an inspiration to this Council and to the citizens of Allegheny County, and we congratulate him for earning second place in the Pennsylvania Geographic Bee.
