Proclamation honoring and remembering the 30th anniversary of fallen Bethel Park Police Department Detective Lynn Russell Sutter.

WHEREAS, on May 15, 2017, Peace Officers Memorial Day, during National Police Week, the Bethel Park Police Department paid tribute to Lynn Russell Sutter, a Bethel Park Police Detective who died in the line of duty on March 28, 1987; and
WHEREAS, Lynn was a 1963 graduate of Bethel Park High School, worked for U.S. Steel and joined the Bethel Park Police Department in 1968; and
WHEREAS, in 1976, Lynn was promoted to Police Detective with the Bethel Park Police Department and he worked with the department for 19 years before his untimely death; and
WHEREAS, this year marks the 30th anniversary of Lynn’s death and we extend our deepest condolences to the Sutter family, friends and fellow officers;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby honor in memoriam Bethel Park Police Detective Lynn Russell Sutter who made the ultimate sacrifice while safeguarding our community. We honor and remember Lynn’s life by striving to match his courage, devotion and sense of service to the community.
