Proclamation honoring decorated veteran Mr. William Knaus for his service to our country and the Bethel Park community.
Body...
WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals that are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhoods and the community as a whole; and is particularly fortunate to have individuals such as Mr. William Knaus who has honorably served our country and community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. William Knaus is the second of five Knaus generations to reside in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Mr. Knaus worked for the family business, the Bethel Park Market before establishing Colonial Taxi in the early 1950s; and
WHEREAS, Mr. William Knaus served in the Korean War and in World War II under General George S. Patton and received the Bronze Star twice for his service as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Mr. William Knaus, a founding member of the Bethel Park Veterans Memorial committee, was instrumental in the design and creation of the Bethel Park Veterans Memorial (dedicated on October 30, 1999) to honor the service men and women of Bethel Park; and
WHEREAS, this Council recognizes Mr. William Knaus for his hard work, sacrifice, volunteerism and outstanding service to the Bethel Park community;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize decorated veteran Mr. William Knaus, and we thank him for his valiant service to our country and for his dedication and support to the Bethel Park community.
