An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing the disposition of county-owned TASER X26 units with holsters and accessories by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office to the Gateway School District School Police Department for use in providing a safe and secure learning environment for the students, faculty and staff.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County currently owns by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office eighteen TASER X26 units with holsters and accessories; and
WHEREAS, the TASERS with holsters and accessories described above were previously used by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, but are no longer of value to the Office or the County, and are currently decommissioned; and
WHEREAS, the Gateway School District School Police Department has expressed an interest in obtaining the TASERS with holsters and accessories described above for use in providing a safe and secure learning environment; and
WHEREAS, this conveyance of County property must be authorized by Ordinance under the terms of Article IV, Section 2.k. of the Home Rule Charter of Allegheny County;
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:
SECTION 1. Incorporation of the Preamble
The provisions set forth in the preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.
SECTION 2. Authorization to permit the donation of County Real Property
County Council does hereby authorize and approve the donation of eighteen TASER X26 units with holsters and accessories by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office on behalf of Allegheny County to the Gateway School District School Police Department, for use in providing a safe and secure learning environment for the students, faculty and staff. The terms of this Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon final approval.
