Proclamation recognizing Mikayla Davic upon writing, directing and producing a show for five years in a row to help raise money for Make-A-Wish.

WHEREAS, Baldwin High School senior, Mikayla Davic, for the fifth year in a row has written, directed and produced a show starring her Baldwin-Whitehall classmates to raise money for Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Mikayla even performed in four of the five shows; and

WHEREAS, Mikayla has an impressive past in theater. In second grade, she fell in love with theater and had a chance to perform as a little munchkin in the Baldwin High School show, “The Wizard of Oz.” In fourth grade, she was invited back to the High School to perform in the production of “The Children of Eden;” and

WHEREAS, then came seventh grade and an assignment to do a year-long project in the gifted program at Harrison Middle School. Mikayla chose to write, direct and cast her own show. Her first show, titled “A Not So Magical Story,” brought in $8,000 for Make-A-Wish from the show alone; and

WHEREAS, determined to raise more for Make-A-Wish and fulfill her passion for writing plays, Mikayla has written, directed and produced four more plays over the years: “A Murder on 34th Street,” “Paradise,” “Misfits,” and “Lost & Found;” and

WHEREAS, this year’s show, “Lost & Found” brought in $22,751.66 and counting as online donations are continuing, breaking the previous record high for a show of $13,500. Mikayla’s 5-year fundraising goal was $50,000; however, she ended up raising just over $68,000 with all the proceeds going to Make-A-Wish; and

WHEREAS, as a senior, Mikayla is in the process of writing a feature-length film about a high school senior suffering from addiction. One day she dreams of being a director and screenwriter and hopes her films address issues people don’t talk about;
