Sergeant Raymond Drew Lee of the Point Breeze neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was born on February 20, 1919 in Donaldsonville, Georgia. In 1941, Sergeant Lee was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II in Fort Benning, Georgia where he served for four years, five months and five days. During that time, he served as a #1 Gunner on the Anti-Tank Gun in the Pacific with the 24th Infantry Division. In 1945, Sergeant Lee received an Honorable Discharge from the Army and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa where he met and married his wife of 74 years, Bernice Tillman. Together they had four children. Sergeant Lee is a dedicated husband, father and a devoted member of his church. We honor and commend Sergeant Raymond Drew Lee for his years of service and longevity, and we wish him all the best as he celebrates his 100th birthday.
