Proclamation honoring Chief Donald R. Dorsch upon his retirement and for his 42 years of dedicated service to law enforcement.

WHEREAS, “the secret to success is good leadership, and good leadership is all about making the lives of your team members or workers better.” That quote by Tony Dungy depicts the true essence of Chief Donald R. Dorsch and his years dedicated to Franklin Park Borough as Police Chief; and

WHEREAS, Chief Dorsch began his career in public service when he was hired on as a full-time officer in September 15, 1977 with Franklin Park Borough; and

WHEREAS, after eight years of being Officer in Charge, Chief Dorsch was promoted to Chief of Police on October 10, 1991; and

WHEREAS, from March 29, 1992 to June 12, 1992, he attended the 169th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia where he trained along FBI recruits and other police officers from 14 other countries and 48 states; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure at Franklin Park Police Department, Chief Dorsch became a member of several prestigious organizations: the Boroughs and Townships Police Association, the Allegheny County Chiefs of Police Association, the Western Pennsylvania Chief of Police Association, the Pennsylvania Chief of Police Association, the FBI National Academy Associates, the Allegheny County District Attorneys Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, the North Allegheny Police Partnership; and

WHEREAS, in his retirement, Chief Dorsch looks forward to spending time with his wife Cathy, son Michael and daughters Lori, Carrie and Jillian along with his eight grandchildren;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member Cindy Kirk, do hereby recognize and honor Chief Donald R. Dorsch for his 42 years of dedicated service to law enforcement, and we thank him for unwavering commitment to protecting the citizens of Franklin Park Borough.
