Proclamation declaring April 2, 2019 to be Fashions for Kids’ Sake Day in Allegheny County.

     WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, operating under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever; and   

 

     WHEREAS, in an effort to support the work, raise funds and promote mentoring, BBBS has partnered with Carlow University, where Carlow students team up with Propel Andrew Street High School freshmen to teach mentees the importance of a healthy mind and body, serving the community, and building relationships that lead to a bright future. The mentoring program culminates in a high-energy fashion show featuring Carlow University students, Andrew Street Propel School mentees, and Bigs and Littles of BBBS; and

 

     WHEREAS, the 10th Annual Fashions For Kids’ Sake Fashion Show will take place on April 2, 2019 at the Rosemary Heyl Theatre of Carlow University where WPXI’s reporter, Courtney Brennan will emcee, as styles from ModCloth and Carlow Closet are modeled on the runway;

     

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member Tom Baker, do hereby declare April 2, 2019 to be Fashions for Kids’ Sake Day in Allegheny County, and we commend the Big Brother Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh for their successful work in changing the lives of children in our region and congratulates Carlow University and the students of Andrew Street High School for a spectacular Fashions for Kids’ Sake fashion show.
