WHEREAS, we are here today to express our appreciation to Mrs. Jane A. Hopey on her distinguished career as a Council Member with the Borough of Franklin Park and dedicated service to the residents of Franklin Park and Allegheny County; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Hopey was elected to the Borough of Franklin Park Council in January 2006 and was re-elected to Council for three additional 4-year terms, through December 31, 2021. While on Council, Mrs. Hopey served as Second Vice-President, Vice-President and President of the Borough; and

WHEREAS, her years of service have been marked by exemplary dedication to the best interests of the community, which is evident by Mrs. Hopey’s commitment through service on the following committees: Personnel/Administration, Finance & Budget, Recreation, Technology, and borough representative on the Northland Library Board; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Hopey, through her dedication, helped make the following notable projects and achievements possible: helped establish a strong financial position with the Borough of Franklin Park, while keeping it the 3rd lowest real estate tax rate in Allegheny County; helped create a financial plan to construct a new state-of- the-art Fire Station and a long-term capital/equipment depreciation plan to address the future needs of the Volunteer Fire Company; supported and helped to upgrade the Clover Hill Golf Course through the construction of two new holes and other upgrades; guided the renovation of the Blueberry Hill Park Activity Center; assisted in the acquisition of numerous parcels of recreation, park and open space totaling approximately 250 acres; aided in implementing an annual contribution to the McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority thereby insuring the long-term viability of the service; advocated the use of traffic cameras at selec...
