Proclamation recognizing Christopher Lee upon earning the distinction of being named a U.S. Presidential Scholar.

WHEREAS, North Allegheny High School senior, Christopher Lee recently earned the distinction of being named a U.S. Presidential Scholar; and
WHEREAS, in 1964 under the Executive Order of the President, the U.S. Presidential Scholar Program was established to recognize the most distinguished graduating seniors for their accomplishments in the areas of: academic success, leadership, and service to the school and community; and
WHEREAS, Christopher was one of 161 students nationwide to be named Presidential Scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students; and
WHEREAS, due to Christopher’s desire to always push his academic limits and strive for more, he received a United State Congressional Award Gold Medal in Washington, D.C. in June 2018; and
WHEREAS, Christopher is an active participant in the following student bodies: Computer Club, NA Project Water, HackNA, National Honor Society, Science Bowl, and Junior Classical League; and
WHEREAS, upon graduation, Christopher plans on attending Harvard College in the fall where he will study environmental science and engineering;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Council Member Cindy Kirk do hereby commend and recognize Christopher Lee upon earning the distinction of being named a U.S. Presidential Scholar, and I congratulate him on setting a high precedent for all students in Allegheny County.
