This Certificate is presented to Groceria Merante in Oakland for reaching the monumental milestone of serving customers for 40 years. The Groceria was originally opened by Italo and Filomena Merante in 1979, who had also been grocers in Italy before moving to Pittsburgh. Together Italo and Filomena had seven children, many of which were excited to take part in the new family business. Currently operated by Italo and Filomena’s two daughters, Filomena and Julia Merante, Groceria Merante is a landmark Italian grocery store in Allegheny County due to their homemade sauces, sausages and their popular Merante Sandwich. On behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, we congratulate Groceria Merante on reaching this important milestone and we thank them for their commitment to making Allegheny County a better and tastier place to live.
