Proclamation congratulating the West Deer Volunteer Fire Department #1 upon the occasion of its 90th anniversary

WHEREAS, throughout the history of our storied County, great citizens have answered the challenging call of duty by placing their lives at risk to secure the safety and protection of their neighbors; and
WHEREAS, the West Deer Volunteer Fire Department #1 was founded in 1929 by the residents of West Deer Township to help protect their community; and
WHEREAS, the West Deer Volunteer Fire Department #1 is a volunteer organization with approximately 40 active members that are dedicated to the safety and protection of life and property endangered by fire and other hazards in West Deer Township and surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS the West Deer Volunteer Fire Department’s numerous acts of bravery and their unwavering dedication to safety and rescue are apparent due to the fact that they respond to countless fire and emergency calls per year; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny County Council Member, Anita Prizio do hereby congratulate the West Deer Volunteer Fire Department #1 upon the occasion of its 90th anniversary, and I recognize and commend the West Deer Volunteer Fire Department #1 for their bravery and selfless service protecting the lives and property of the Citizens of West Deer Township for 90 years.
