Proclamation honoring the life, memory and legacy of Orelio “Rollo” Vecchio.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County Council does hereby honor the life of the late Orelio “Rollo” Vecchio, a beloved husband, father, veteran, and dedicated advocate for Pitcairn Borough, who passed away on September 4, 2019 at the age of 81; and
WHEREAS, Rollo was born and raised in Pitcairn Borough, PA in 1938. This is where he met and married his wife of 53 years MaryAnn, and together they had two sons, Frank and Carmen; and
WHEREAS, over his career, Rollo held various positions within the supermarket business and the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue; however, his true passion in life was to be an advocate for his community; and
WHEREAS, as a Councilman for Pitcairn Borough for 36 years, much of which he served as president, Rollo always acted with the best intentions of his constituents in mind. For over 50 years, he served as a member of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee and was the Chairman of the Pitcairn Democratic Committee for 48 years; and
WHEREAS, Rollo took extreme pride in his community and loved taking part in the number of community organizations Pitcairn had to offer. He was an active member of Pitcairn Park and Recreation Committee, American Legion, Italian Club, Fire Company #2 Social Club, Pitcairn Civic Association, Knights of Columbus, and the Rankin Christian Center; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member Paul Zavarella, do hereby honor the life, memory and legacy of Orelio “Rollo” Vecchio, and we extend condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
