WHEREAS, “knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.” That quote by Calvin Coolidge depicts the true essence of William McKim and his dedicated service to his community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McKim was born and raised in Ellwood City, PA where he graduated from New Castle High School in 1964; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McKim furthered his education by receiving a B.S. degree and J.D. from Duquesne University; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from law school, Mr. McKim became a law clerk for the President Judge of the Lawrence County Court of Common Pleas. He then went on to serve as a law clerk for U.S. Third Circuit Senior Judge, Austin L. Staley; and
WHEREAS, in 1976, Mr. McKim was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1976; and
WHEREAS, for 35 years, Mr. McKim worked for the U.S. Steel Corporation’s law department. During his tenure, Mr. McKim advanced to the Senior council position for the Corporation’s Southwestern Area law office in Dallas, Texas. In 2009, Mr. McKim retired; however, he continued to pursue his true passion, advocating for his community; and
WHEREAS, on June 16, 2008, Mr. McKim began his 12-year career as a Council Member for McCandless Township. From 2008 through 2019, Mr. McKim served as the representative of the 7th Ward; and
WHEREAS, during his time on council, Mr. McKim served his township in a variety of capacities: Council Vice President; Assistant Town Secretary; liaison to the Zoning Hearing Board; chair of the Zoning Committee; vice chair of the Recreation Committee; vice chair of the Public Safety Committ...
