Proclamation recognizing the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade Miss Smiling Irish Eyes.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee announced that the 2020 Miss Smiling Irish Eyes Queen is Stephanie O’Donnell; and
WHEREAS, the title of Miss Smiling Irish Eyes Queen is among the most honored participants in the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, Miss Smiling Irish Eyes Queen, Ms. O’Donnell, is freshman at Slippery Rock University, where she is studying exercise science on an academic scholarship. She attended Penn Trafford High School and graduate in 2019. While in high school, Ms. O’Donnell was a High Honor Roll student for four years, a two-year member of the National Honors Society, and a Penn Trafford High School
“Student of the Month”; and
WHEREAS, since a young age, Ms. O’Donnell has been dedicated to volunteering within her church community and Irish community. She has served as a volunteer with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s sensory-friendly concert, as well as a Special Olympics volunteer at Slippery Rock University. While in high school, Ms. O’Donnell was a member of both the Penn Trafford High School Community Action Program and the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) program. She organized and planned a Big Buddy Program at Penn Trafford, which encourages positive interactions between elementary school students and high schoolers; and
WHEREAS, Ms. O’Donnell’s family has strong ties to the Pittsburgh Irish community. Her great-grandparents hail from County Kerry and County Galway and her family instilled a strong sense of Irish pride in Ms. O’Donnell;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member Pat Catena, along with All Members of Council, do hereby congratulate Stephanie O’Donnell upon being named the 2020 Miss Smiling Irish Eyes Queen for the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
