WHEREAS, “knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.” That quote by Calvin Coolidge depicts the true essences of Kenneth LaSota’s character and his years devoted to the Borough of Heidelberg; and
WHEREAS, each year, the Pennsylvania State Mayors’ Association, comprised of city, borough and municipal mayors across the state, selects a mayor who has had a significant impact upon the community, is a leader and has had extraordinary accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, the 2020 Pennsylvania Mayor of the Year was awarded to the mayor of the Borough of Heidelberg, Kenneth LaSota; and
WHEREAS, for over 22 years, Mr. LaSota has served the Borough of Heidelberg in several capacities. He constantly displays unwavering commitment towards the borough, and with continuous determination he has been able to make improvements on infrastructure that enhances the quality of life for the 1,215 residents; and
WHEREAS, Mr. LaSota, through his dedication, helped acquire 1.2 million dollars to upgrade Heidelberg’s business district and signed into law many ordinances and resolutions; and
WHEREAS, as mayor, Mr. LaSota has published articles in several regional and statewide journals outlining the borough’s history and economic vitality, officiated 74 marriage ceremonies, and attended more than 90% of Heidelberg’s council meetings; and
WHEREAS, Mr. LaSota understands the importance of establishing a strong community base and he is committed to attending community functions and advancing his mayoral and administrative training by graduating from two state governmental trai...
