Proclamation congratulating the American Legion of Bridgeville Post No. 54 upon celebrating their 100th anniversary.

WHEREAS, since 1919, the American Legion has been a staunch advocate for veterans and their families; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion was founded on the four pillars of care for veterans, a strong national defense, Americanism, and children and youth; and
WHEREAS, on November 29, 2020, the American Legion of Bridgeville will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Granting of the “original charter” to establish and maintain Bridgeville Post No. 54; and
WHEREAS, over the years, the American Legion Bridgeville Post No. 54 has maintained and grown its position as a pillar of the community; and
WHEREAS, Bridgeville Post No. 54 is known for managing and coordinating one of the largest and long-running Memorial Day parades and services in the area; and
WHEREAS, Bridgeville Post No. 54 has played a vital role in many local events, but most notably it helped raise funds for a granite monument representing Bridgeville at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny County Council Member Tom Duerr do hereby congratulate the American Legion of Bridgeville Post No. 54 upon celebrating their 100th anniversary, and I thank them for their years of dedicated service to the community and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Bridgeville Borough.
