WHEREAS, throughout the history of our storied County, great citizens have answered the challenging call of duty by placing their lives at risk to secure the safety and protection of their neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. John J. Gardell, Jr., has dedicated 50 years of service as a Firefighter for the West Mifflin Volunteer Fire Company #3. Mr. Gardell, Jr. answered the challenging call of public service and placed his life at risk to secure the safety and protection of his neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Gardell, Jr.’s invaluable knowledge of safety and firefighting techniques assisted in bettering West Mifflin and its surrounding communities. His dedication to the West Mifflin Volunteer Fire Company #3 and time spent as Assistant Chief, Captain, and Fire Instructor has truly set a high standard of commitment and fervor for the citizens of West Mifflin and throughout Allegheny County;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny County Council Member Bob Macey, do hereby commend and thank Mr. John J. Gardell, Jr. for his 50 years of dedicated service to the West Mifflin Volunteer Fire Company #3. During his tenure, he truly displayed excellence and commitment to serving the community and his volunteerism placed him at risk to serve our citizens, and for that we are grateful.
