Proclamation commending Local Government Academy for being recognized as an Annual Governor’s Awardee for Local Government Excellence.

WHEREAS, every year, the Governor Tom Wolf Administration recognizes municipalities and local government officials with the Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence; and
WHEREAS, the 25th Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence recognizes municipalities and local government officials for their dedication and commitment to strengthen their communities and better serve their residents; and
WHEREAS, ten communities, five organizations, and eight individuals from across the commonwealth were recognized for excellent service as part of the 25th Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence; and
WHEREAS, recognized for their ability to respond to adversity, the Local Government Academy (LGA) was recognized as an Annual Governor’s Awardee for Local Government Excellence; and
WHEREAS, LGA is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan organization, promoting excellence in local government; and
WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, LGA quickly transitioned their learning experiences to a digital format for a better remote learning experience. By transitioning to remote learning, LGA was able to extend the service area beyond Southwestern Pennsylvania to span the 25 counties across Pennsylvania;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, Allegheny County Council Members Tom Duerr, Tom Baker, Liv Bennett, Pat Catena, Sam DeMarco, Nick Futules, Bethany Hallam, Cindy Kirk, Paul Klein, Robert Palmosina, Anita Prizio, Bob Macey, and Paul Zavarella , do hereby commend Local Government Academy for being recognized as an Annual Governor’s Awardee for Local Government Excellence. We thank them for their continued dedication to promoting a strong and responsive local government system, developing effective local leaders, educating public officials, public employees and citizens, and building collaborations and partnerships.
