Proclamation commending the Town of McCandless for being recognized as an Annual Governor’s Awardee for Local Government Excellence

WHEREAS, every year, the Governor Tom Wolf Administration recognizes municipalities and local government officials with the Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence; and
WHEREAS, the 25th Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence recognizes municipalities and local government officials for their dedication and commitment to strengthen their communities and better serve their residents; and
WHEREAS, ten communities, five organizations, and eight individuals from across the commonwealth were recognized for excellent service as part of the 25th Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence; and
WHEREAS, recognized for their superior skills in information technology, the Town of McCandless was recognized as an Annual Governor’s Awardee for Local Government Excellence; and
WHEREAS, the Town of McCandless was settled in 1796 and incorporated in 1851; and
WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of McCandless quickly transitioned their communications to include new channels of information sharing and increasing shared information; and
WHEREAS, undergoing a communications overhaul, the Town of McCandless made the following changes to their information technology: town website enhancements, a new town Facebook page, a new town YouTube channel, a new Savvy Citizen cell phone texting/app-allowing anyone in the Northern Allegheny region to access community and neighboring community events-and the upcoming launch of both a town Twitter account and a town television channel;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Allegheny County Council Member Cindy Kirk, do hereby commend the Town of McCandless for being recognized as an Annual Governor’s Awardee for Local Government Excellence. We thank them for their continued dedication to the community...
