Proclamation congratulating Gloria Bennett upon her retirement from North Hills Community Outreach.

WHEREAS, “Happiness doesn’t come through selfishness but through selflessness. Everything you do comes back around.” This anonymous quote truly describes Gloria Bennett perfectly as she dedicated countless years to helping others through volunteer services and working at the North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO); and
WHEREAS, in 1998, Gloria began volunteering with the Employment Services program after she and Harriet Klatte co-founded a support group, Families Facing Unemployment; and
WHEREAS, Gloria helped with following-up on phone calls to employment clients, workshops and job fairs and anything else needed to support the program. While volunteering, Gloria was instrumental in putting together a community cookbook fundraiser that yielded a $10,000 profit. She also coordinated one of the Dance of the Decade fundraisers and worked very hard to make that fundraiser a huge success; and
WHEREAS, in 2003, Gloria took a bookkeeper position with NHCO and eventually became the Human Resources Manager, a position she held until she retired; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, Allegheny County Council Members Cindy Kirk and Tom Baker, do hereby congratulate Gloria Bennett for her dedicated service to North Hills Community Outreach. This Council commends her for her efforts over the last 18 years and we wish her the best while she enjoys her retirement and time with family.
