Proclamation recognizing the efforts of many to get the new Brentwood Borough building opened after 18 months of construction.

WHEREAS, after more than 100 years of operating at the corner of Brownsville Road and Marylea Avenue, Brentwood Borough has relocated its offices; and
WHEREAS, this move to an entirely new municipal building at a site that previously housed a dilapidated structure follows a decade long planning process and 18 months of construction; and
WHEREAS, on May 2, 2019, officials gathered in front of 3735 Brownsville Road to break ground on the $4.5 million municipal building project being led by general contractor Mucci Construction; and
WHEREAS, originally it was anticipated that the extensive project would take a little over a year. However, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, construction was delayed; and
WHEREAS, in December 2020, after 18 months of construction, Brentwood Borough staff began to transition to the new borough building, and on January 4, 2021 the lobby was officially opened to visitors; and
WHEREAS, the building will house police, borough administration, parks and recreation, and planning, along with a new council chambers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny County Council Member John Palmiere, do hereby recognize the efforts of many to get the new Brentwood Borough building opened after 18 months of construction. Many residents will benefit from the new building and provide a space for the community to come together.
