Proclamation congratulating Felipe Crespo upon his outstanding achievement of opening the first Puerto Rican food truck in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, to honor his Puerto Rican heritage, on March 1, 2021, Felipe Crespo opened “Secretos de mis Abuelos”, which translates from Spanish to “Secrets of My Grandparents”; and
WHEREAS, to further diversify our beautiful City of Pittsburgh, Felipe Crespo uses the “secrets” he has learned from his grandparents to prepare authentic Latinx meals in the city’s first Puerto Rican food truck; and
WHEREAS, from starting as a small catering business to now a full-time restaurant, Felipe Crespo demonstrates what it means to have an exemplary work ethic by doing all of this while earning a master’s degree from Duquesne University with ambitions of going to medical school; and
WHEREAS, to further better his community, Felipe Crespo, along with the help of his family, launched a non-profit alongside the restaurant to fund other non-profits that are aimed to respond to major crises; and
WHEREAS, while honoring his roots, Felipe Crespo keeps an eye on the future by employing his family and plans to eventually pass the business onto them so they too can experience the dream of owning and operating a restaurant; and
WHEREAS, in addition to serving authentic Latinx meals, Felipe Crespo uses his business to spread awareness of Puerto Rican culture to areas that lack cultural diversity by sharing to the public traditions found in Latin America; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Council Member Robert Palmosina, do hereby recognize and congratulate Felipe Crespo upon his outstanding achievement of opening the first Puerto Rican food truck in the City of Pittsburgh.
