Motion of the Council of Allegheny County authorizing the execution of a three year contract with Henderson Brothers, Inc. for the placement of certain insurance policies.

WHEREAS, on January 20, 2023, Allegheny County Council issued a request for proposals (RFP) fort an entity to provide advice to Council regarding insurance to protect Council, its Members, and Officers from personal losses if sued; and
WHEREAS, Council received two responsive bids to this RFP;
WHEREAS, the cost of the responsive bid from Henderson Brothers, Inc. was significantly lower than the cost of the other responsive bid;
WHEREAS, on September 6, 2023, Council’s Executive Committee and its solicitor met with and interviewed representatives from Henderson Brothers, Inc., and in the judgment of the Committee, Henderson Brothers, Inc. was highly qualified to perform the required tasks and therefore is a responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, also on September 6, 2023, the Executive Committee authorized further discussions with Henderson Brothers, Inc. in order to develop an agreement for the required services; and
WHEREAS, this process has been concluded with the development of mutually agreeable terms as described in the attached draft contract, which has been reviewed and approved as to form and content by the Council solicitor;
The Council of the County of Allegheny therefore hereby moves as follows:
Council hereby authorizes the execution of a contract with Henderson Brothers, Inc. for the placement of certain insurance policies, as described in the attached draft contract.
