Dear Members of Congress,

 

At the Regular Meeting of Allegheny County Council, Council held on May 1, 2007, passed the attached Resolution (No. 18-07-RE) entitled,  “A Resolution of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, urging the United States Congress to approve House Resolution 676, the United States National Health Insurance Act, or some variation thereof, establishing the United States National Health Insurance Program to provide all individuals residing in the United States and in U.S. territories with free health care that includes all medically necessary care, such as primary care, and prevention, prescription drugs, emergency care, and mental health services.”

 

The Resolution was sponsored by Council President Rich Fitzgerald and Council Member John DeFazio; and co-sponsored by Council Members Cleary, Finnerty, Frazier, Burn, Macey, Lestitian, and Robinson. The Resolution passed by a vote of 12-0-2, with Council Members Drozd and Rea abstaining, and Council Member Gastgeb not voting due to his absence at the meeting. Also, please note that the Resolution was returned unsigned by the Chief Executive.
