Dear Governor Rendell,

 

At the Regular Meeting of Allegheny County Council held on February 6, 2007, Council unanimously approved the attached Motion which was introduced by Council Member Sue Caldwell.

 

As you will read, the Motion urges you to reconsider raising the state sales tax from 6 percent to 7 percent in order to fund the Commonwealth’s 2007-08 budget, which would increase the tax rate in Allegheny County to 8 percent, and which would create a hardship on businesses, taxpayers and consumers.
