Proclamation honoring in memoriam the dedicated service of Heidelberg Police Canine Officer Rocky.
Body...
WHEREAS, on June 29, 2015, Canine Officer Rocky, Heidelberg Borough’s beloved police dog, an 8-year-old German shepherd, lost his battle with cancer; and
WHEREAS, K9 Officer Rocky graduated from the City of Pittsburgh K9 Academy with his handler Sergeant Dennis Dixon, and in 2008 he joined the Heidelberg Police Department, having served with honor, dignity and valor; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his police work in Heidelberg, K9 Rocky’s expertise was also utilized throughout Allegheny County as part of a mutual aid agreement; and
WHEREAS, K9 Officer Rocky was loyal, loving and devoted to protecting our communities and safeguarding the citizens of Heidelberg and Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, K9 Officer Rocky was Sgt. Dixon’s partner, his friend, and his protector, and he was loved by his partner, family, fellow officers, and the community; and
WHEREAS, Rocky is survived by his partner Sgt. Dennis Dixon, with whom he worked and resided, Sgt. Dennis Dixon’s wife, and their three children;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and honor in memoriam the remarkable service of Heidelberg Borough Police K9 Officer Rocky and our condolences go out to the Dixon family, the Heidelberg Police Department and the community.
